Birth of Lindy // Jackson Family

Let me give you a little back story before you scroll through one of the most tender births & sibling introductions. This is the story of how I met the Jackson family. Way back in the day, Megan and I actually attended the same church in Keller, TX. Megan’s sister, Rachel, was my small group leader at one point and I was familiar with the “Hildewig” family name. But even though I knew of Megan, I didn’t have the opportunity to authentically interact with her until I was a Child Protective Services intern at the same office she served at. She was pregnant with her oldest daughter, Emma, at the time and raving about her pregnancy craving, Cheddar’s, any moment she could. She was an organized and sincere adoption specialist who fought to find forever families for countless vulnerable children. I’ve always admired Megan and knew her children would be lucky to have such an empathetic and caring mama.

Fast forward a couple years and here we are! Megan’s labor was tough and long as she bravely fought through contractions overnight, but the Jackson’s were met with their precious daughter early the following morning. Although Megan’s labor was not peaceful by any means (is it ever?), the delivery could not have gone more smoothly! Lindy appeared an hour after sunrise with a head full of beautiful hair and lots of excitement to be the newest member of the Jackson clan. Ryan was a gentle supporter who marveled at his wife as she caressed her little bundle. They walked into the hospital as a family of three and left as a family of four. A wonderful and courageous family of four.

It’s difficult to decide what part of Lindy’s birth was my favorite to shoot, but Emma’s reaction to her new little sissy was definitely up there on the list! She was overjoyed to smother her new sissy in love, hugs, gifts, and kisses. Go ahead. Take a gander. You may just want to grab the tissues.

Jackson family, thank you for inviting me into such a vulnerable and sacred space in order for me to freeze a moment that I pray you and baby Lindy will cherish for years to come. And to you Lindy, Happy Birthday sweet girl.
