The Birth of Abraham // Wakefield Family of Four

There’s absolutely nothing more unique and absolutely breathtaking than a birth story. Emily is a warrior who fought through labor (even after an unsuccessful epidural, may I add?) throughout the afternoon, night, and early morning. Her faithful and gentle husband, Grant, spoke words of encouragement and coached his wife through every contraction. After hours of contractions and endless birthing positions, Emily & Grant were greeted by their newest addition early on a Saturday morning.

Getting to be a fly on the wall during this labor and delivery was an honor. I saw the strength within Emily as she battled each contraction with grace. I witnessed Grant’s joy as he announced the gender of their baby with the opening line, “Hey Buddy!” (CUE THE TEARS). I was encouraged by the enthusiasm of nurses and the gentle voice of the midwife throughout the entire hospital stay. As I reminisce on the birth of Abraham, Jesus was tangible in the room and He is present in the Wakefield family of four.

Because babies tend to have their own time schedule, we decided to capture the moments of Abraham’s big sister meeting him for the first time. Daisy was a hoot! At moments, it was hard to tell if Daisy was more interested by her baby brother or the crackers on the tray, but it was a joy getting to capture the first few moments of the Wakefield family of four.
